What if I leave belongings on the property?

If you forget something on site, we can get them back to you within approximately one month. There is a $50 fee for this service plus the cost of shipping. When you contact us regarding your lost item, we will require the shipping address and credit card information for payment.

Do you offer a laundry service for guest items?

No, a laundering service for guest items is not available at the Tulemar Resort Hotel. Many of our larger 2-, 3-, and 4-bedroom units have washers and dryers though. Please contact us for details.

Do I need to exchange money to Costa Rican Colones?

The official currency of Costa Rica is the Colon, but U.S. dollars are widely accepted. If you have denominations of $20 or less, most, if not all places, including taxis, will take the U.S. dollars and will give you change in Costa Rica Colones. If you only have high denomination bills, you may need to go to the bank.

U.S. dollars and travelers’ checks can be exchanged in banks between 9:00am and 3:00pm Monday thru Friday. You will need to bring your passport with you to change currency. Major credit cards are accepted at most restaurants throughout the country. ATMs are available in Manuel Antonio, and there are two conveniently located across the street from the property, at the Promerica Bank complex and Banco de Costa Rica. These ATMs dispense both Costa Rica Colones and U.S. Dollars.

Most independent guides and tours only accept cash.

What are the standard tipping procedures in Costa Rica?

A 10% service charge is usually added to your restaurant bill. Gratuities are not included for drivers, maids, guides, or other staff but are customary and left to your discretion as an individual expression of appreciation. $1.00 to $5.00 per person a day depending on the level of service. Tip luggage handlers $1.00 per bag and maids from $1.00 – $3.00 per day per room.

Does my villa have a phone?

Yes, there is a phone in your villa with an answering machine. Local and international dialing instructions are posted in-unit.

What happens if I should become ill during my stay?

Tulemar Resort works with an independent medical doctor in Manuel Antonio who is available on a 24-hour basis and will come to your villa. He charges approximately $150 for a visit and will provide a bill, which should be accepted by most medical insurance companies. There is also a hospital in Quepos for more serious issues.
