Tulemar Dining

You’ve made it to your Costa Rican villa, settled in and begun to relax – so where do you go to eat?

A plethora of dining options awaits you in Tulemar Resort, from Buena Vista Del Sol and its panoramic views of the Pacific to Puerto Escondido / Espadilla poolside. Locally, there are even more options, including El Avion, Agua Azul, L’Angolo, and Z Gastro Bar.

Buena Vista Del Sol is just a short walk from your door, with Pacific Ocean views overlooking Tulemar and a menu filled with the freshest, most diverse ingredients. Many travelers begin every day here with the breakfast buffet, surrounded by trees still glistening with morning dew and serenaded by the songs of the local birds. If you sit by the railing and peer into the canopy you may be able to spot some three-toed sloths!

Of course, it’s not just breakfast at Buena Vista Del Sol. Lunch and dinner are also delicious – enjoy a chicken mango wrap, with free range chicken topped with mango salsa in the best corn tortilla you’ve ever tasted.

Sunsets at the equator are the subject of legend and Restaurante Buena Vista Del Sol is the perfect place to experience that time of day when the setting sun seems to just kiss the horizon before sinking gracefully into the blue Pacific.

It’s a view worth enjoying.

Green Season is the Best Season

Green Season in Costa Rica sometimes gets a bad rap.

Sure, our “winter” is our rainy season – between March and October we average between 600mm to 1000mm of rain per month – but it’s also the best season to visit Manuel Antonio; rates and travel costs are much lower, and there are fewer travelers.

Your dream vacation need not be an expensive affair. The lower rates, package deals, and discounted travel costs make travel to Costa Rica during green season a lot easier on your bank account!

While it gets cheaper to visit Costa Rica there is something perhaps far more valuable to take into consideration during the green season: fewer travelers. This means that while you visit Manuel Antonio and enjoy Tulemar Beach, or any of the other magnificent beaches like Playa Manuel Antonio (one of the world’s top 25 beaches according to TripAdvisor), you may have the beach all to yourself!

In fact, lineups for activities and attractions are minimal this time of year, so if you like jungle zip-line tours or want to enjoy excursions through our many parks and historical sites, now is a great time to go. Less time is spent waiting, while more time is enjoyed participating!

Yes, it rains during green season, sometimes a great deal. But it also offers the lowest travel and accommodation costs, an opportunity to avoid other travelers, and some of the most spectacular skies and sunsets all year round.

This time of year also brings an explosion of life: Green season is when Costa Rica is truly alive.

Take Only Photos, Leave Only Footprints

“Take only photos, leave only footprints.”

We take those words seriously at Tulemar Resort.

Here, we do everything in our power to preserve the natural environment, bringing the rainforest and its inhabitants as close to our guests as possible, while still respecting their need for safety. Flora and fauna are abundant in the common areas and near the villas, and the villas themselves are occasionally visited by a variety of small insects (ants, bugs, mosquitoes) and other small creatures (geckos, monkeys, raccoons, birds, iguanas, bats) but never anything large or dangerous to guests.

Tolerance of our abundant animal population is a necessary compromise in order for guests to enjoy their stay here. Human beings are (thankfully) not in the food chain for any of these wonderful jungle inhabitants, so nothing is looking to bite you!

We do ask, however, that guests make sure to “take only memories” during their stay. Costa Ricans work hard to conserve their land, which is why 33% of the rainforest is protected by national parks. Seashells are lovely, but by removing them from their natural environment, we disturb the ecosystem, causing the beautiful reefs to die.

Some superstitious people even say that it brings bad luck!

So please, when you visit beautiful Manuel Antonio and Tulemar Gardens, we ask that you use your camera to savour the memory. Bring home memories, not keepsakes. :)

Father’s Day, His Way

We’ve talked about sending mom off to us to be pampered before, but we must never forget the other half of the treasured parental partnership: Fathers.

With Father’s Day coming up, we feel this is the perfect time to remind you that we’re THE place for your dad’s world-class getaway amidst a tropical paradise. At Buena Vista dear old dad will get his own luxury condo nestled on our gated Tulemar property, where he will be able to fully enjoy everything our luxury beach resort has to offer.

World-class accommodation is our business, and we make providing only the best in amenities our mission. Trust us when we say your dad will be fully taken care of. He (and his friends, if they come along) can get in some fishing, surfing, horseback riding, and oh so much more. Or he can just relax on the beach and take it all in.

Costa Rica is a land of both breathtaking beauty and serene calm. Best of all, everything is on dad’s terms while he’s here.

We guarantee she’ll have a great time amidst the breathtaking greenery that we call home.

Tulemar Is Wild

In Tulemar Gardens, more than the other bungalows and accommodations, the jungle is your neighbour.

At any given time at Tulemar Resort, the surrounding jungle of Tulemar Gardens boasts an abundance of wild animals, including three of Costa Rica’s four native monkey species: mantled howler monkeys, Central American squirrel monkeys, and white-headed capuchin monkeys. And like all cheeky neighbours, these monkeys may attempt to borrow some of your belongings from time to time – be sure to keep an eye out ;)

It’s not all monkeys and trees here in Tulemar, however. We also have iguanas (black spiny-tailed iguanas and green iguanas), basilisks, white-nosed coti, and more snakes and bats than you can shake a stick at (note: do not shake sticks at snakes and bats) and that’s just the tip of the iceberg on land.

There’s even more beneath the sea, from dolphins and whales (depending on the time of year) to the countless varieties of fish, corals, you name it. It can be breathtaking, so don’t forget to come up for air from time to time.

One thing we can all agree on: Tulemar is wild – and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Buena Vista Del Sol

The best part of a trip to Costa Rica isn’t always the beaches, the weather, and the wildlife – sometimes the strongest memories are of the most delicious meals you’ve ever eaten. Sometimes the best parts of a trip to Manuel Antonio happens to be the meals shared at Restaurante Buena Vista Del Sol.

With more than a decade of experience serving high quality cuisine, Executive Chef Marlon Fernandez expertly crafts fresh, authentic dishes using local seasonal ingredients and the finest seafood.

The meals are unforgettable, from Costa Rican-style Ceviche and Tuna Tartare to Stuffed Avocado Shrimp, the menu changes daily with the catch and season, however, one thing is always constant: this Costa Rican dining experience is unforgettable.

Whether you are a traveler with a palate or just someone who loves to eat, Buena Vista Del Sol does not disappoint – and it just so happens to be in spectacular Tulemar Gardens, overlooking jungles, beaches, and sunsets that light the sky ablaze…

…and you can enjoy it all along with a 14oz Churrasco Steak, grilled to perfection.

This is what paradise is like.
