Andres Picado was born in a small rural town in Pérez Zeledón, Costa Rica. He grew up helping his parents with farming and ranching while attending school. From a very young age, he dreamed of learning to play the guitar and at the age of 16, with the support of his mother, he was able to buy his first guitar.
Later, Andres moved to Quepos in search of work. He spent many years in the hotel industry, teaching himself to play guitar in his spare time and dreaming of one day performing at restaurants and events. His passion for music led him to travel to San José to study and further develop his skills.
While working as a driver here at Tulemar, he got the opportunity to play live music at Tule Café. Since then, Andres has dedicated the past 4 years entirely to music, performing regularly at Tule Café, Victorias Italian Restaurant, and various tourist venues in and around the Quepos area.
You can catch him live at Tule Café every Monday (5-7 pm) and Saturday (4:30-6:30 pm). Come for the music, stay for the stunning ocean views and delicious Costa Rican dishes.

Tulemar’s Sunsets and Sloth Silhouettes
When it comes to watching a sunset, the experience can be truly magical. And in Costa Rica, few places offer as spectacular a view as Tulemar in Manuel Antonio. Nestled in the lush rainforest with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, this exclusive destination is a hidden gem for sunset lovers. A special thanks to our guest who captured this stunning sunset last night, showcasing the vibrant colors that light up the sky as the sun sets over Tulemar. If you’re looking for an extraordinary spot to experience breathtaking natural beauty, Tulemar is the place to be. Here’s why:
1. Why Pinks and Purples Shine So Bright at Tulemar’s Sunsets
The vibrant pinks and purples captured in your sunset shot are due to the scattering of light through Costa Rica’s clear, tropical atmosphere, where longer wavelengths like red, pink, and purple dominate at sunset. The combination of moisture in the air and the position of the sun near the horizon enhances these stunning hues, creating a striking, colorful display.
2. Perfect Ocean Views
Tulemar’s prime location on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean guarantees one of the best sunset views in Costa Rica. From virtually any vantage point within the resort, you’ll be treated to an unobstructed view of the sun setting into the ocean. The surrounding clear, tropical atmosphere helps amplify the vibrant pinks, purples, and oranges, making the sky a stunning masterpiece. The view, combined with the striking colors, makes for an unforgettable experience.
3. Gorgeous Natural Backdrops
What sets sunsets at Tulemar apart from other locations is the lush, vibrant rainforest that surrounds the resort. As you watch the sky change colors, you’re enveloped in the sounds of nature: the calls of tropical birds, the rustling of palm leaves, and the occasional distant sound of howler monkeys. This natural ambiance adds another layer of tranquility to the experience, making you feel even more connected to the tropical environment. With the picturesque backdrop of verdant jungles, towering trees, and wildlife, the beauty of the sunset becomes even more magical and serene.
4. Amazing Photo Opportunities
For photography enthusiasts, Tulemar offers a treasure trove of stunning sunset shots. The vivid colors of the sky reflect off the ocean, creating a dazzling display that’s perfect for capturing in photos. Whether you’re shooting with a professional camera or just using your phone, the contrast between the fiery skies and the calm ocean waters provides countless opportunities for stunning images. Whether you want to capture the silhouette of a palm tree against the colorful sky or snap a wide-angle shot of the entire vista, the beauty of the sunset at Tulemar will ensure your photos are simply unforgettable.

Rare Sighting of A Silky Anteater Spotted at Tulemar Resort
Manuel Antonio is a true gem of Costa Rica, bursting with wildlife, thanks to its lush rainforests and mangroves. This rich biodiversity offers visitors the chance to encounter unique species in their natural habitat.
Meet Oscar Herrera
Oscar Herrera is one of Tulemar Resort’s exceptional guides. With a background as a biologist, nature photographer, and a certified guide by the Costa Rican Tourism Board, Oscar brings over 3 years of experience exploring the diverse ecosystems of Manuel Antonio. His passion for wildlife and deep knowledge of the region make him an ideal guide for uncovering the area’s hidden treasures.
A Rare Sight
During a recent tour through the mangroves, Herrera spotted a Silky Anteater carrying its baby. Known as the smallest anteater in the world, these tiny creatures, found in southern Mexico, Central, and South America, measure just 12”-17” long and weigh less than a pound. Their large, curved claws help them climb trees and tear into ant nests, allowing them to feast on up to 5,000 ants a day.
Silky Anteaters typically only produce one offspring and after giving birth, the mother will place their young in a nest tucked away in a tree trunk for protection. Given their low reproduction rate and the rarity of spotting them in the wild, witnessing a mother Silky Anteater with her baby is an especially rare and special experience.
Tulemar Resort’s Mangrove Tour
Mangroves are vital ecosystems where river waters meet the sea, providing a rich habitat for diverse wildlife. At Tulemar, we offer a Mangrove Tour where you’ll explore this unique environment by boat or kayak. Along the way, you might spot sloths, monkeys, vibrant birds, amphibians, and even rare creatures like the Silky Anteater.
This 3-hour adventure includes lunch and transportation to and from the resort, all for just $80 per person. Experience the lush ecosystem that makes Manuel Antonio one of the most biodiverse places in the world and book your tour today.
